MgA. Marcela Putnová (*1997) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2017-2023) in Jiří Petrbok’s studio and also completed an internship in the Visiting Artist Studio led by Paulina Olowska. She is a two-time recipient of the AVU Studio Prize, in recognition of her artistic development.

Her work has been exhibited at venues such as Kampus Hybernská, Galerie Kritiků, Světová 1 in Prague, Art Bechyně and Festival of Contemporary Arts in Prostějov among others. This autumn, she will take part in the 4+4 Days in Motion festival and Art Fair Sofia. She works between Prague and the Vysočina region, where she maintains her studio spaces.

Her artistic practice explores the concept of reality and its transformation under the influence of human intervention, memory, and power. Her works often oscillate between dream and reality – whether in paintings, drawings, objects, or video pieces, they incorporate references to historical and technological aspects of contemporary society alongside free-flowing, almost subconscious visual associations.

Putnová focuses on traces of events and phenomena that leave imprints on both cultural memory and physical space. Her work reveals deeply rooted archetypes, symbols, and signs that carry not only personal but also social meaning. She explores the tension between intimacy and structure, individuality and system. Her art presents a sensitive yet analytical reflection on the landscape, the body, and society – seen as interwoven structures that shape, influence, and imprint upon one another.
